Official Rules
 

1)All entry packets must be received by October 7th, 2009.

2)All applications will be put online for the public to view and vote! These choices will not guarantee band placement in the 2009 Battle of the Bands. All online votes will be calculated with the votes from the Battle of the Bands Committee, to decide the 2009 Lineup. YumaSun.com reserves the right to chose who will compete in this event. Online voting begins Tuesday, October 12th at noon and close Monday, October 18th at Midnight.

3)Up to 14 groups will be selected by a listening group of judges, sponsors and YumaSun.com associates, with heavy consideration from the online voting. The selected groups will play on November 7th, 2009 as part of the live competition. The selected groups will be notified by telephone or email on Friday, October 20th.

4)Only complete entries will be considered for the 2009 Battle of the Bands. Complete entries include:

a.Complete application with signatures. b.A digital copy of a Band Photo. Acceptable formats are .jpg, CDs or sent via email. c.An audio file (mp3, .wav or CD) or video clip of the Band performing. No cassettes will be accepted.

Incomplete entries will not be accepted.

5)Judges will be at the event, scoring each band performance. The public will also have an opportunity to vote on their favorite band, at the live show. Winners will be chosen by 60% Judges Vote and 40% Popular Vote and announced after all competing bands have performed.

6)If your group is chosen to compete in the 2009 Battle of the Bands, each member must be available to perform at anytime between 4p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th, 2009. Time requests will be considered, but no time slots are guaranteed. Show schedule will be given to the selected bands when they are notified on October 9th.

7)All bands are required to send at least one member to the Band Meeting. The meeting will be scheduled for a time before the competition. Selected bands will be given the information when they are notified on October 9th.

8)Entries must be completed in English, but the band may perform their songs in any language. Frequent use of profanity is highly discouraged. Repetitive abusive language will subject the band to being powered off.

9)Bands are scheduled 30 minutes apart. Each band that competes at the 2009 Battle of the Bands on November 7th will have 15 minutes of play time. The remaining 15 minutes are to be used for set-up and tear-down. Any band exceeding the allotted play time will be powered off. An experienced Stage Crew will be on hand to assist each band with setting up, sound check and tear-down (time totaling 15 minutes).

10)During a performance, no bands are permitted, at any time, to bring people from the audience on stage to take any equipment off stage. Failure to comply will result in immediate loss of power. Stage Management has final say on all activities on stage.

11)Moshing is prohibited at this event. Any band encouraging, starting or participating in any moshing will be automatically disqualified and powered off.

12)Any band going over the 15-minutes limit, or disregarding event management’s direction about anything, (including Safety and Time), may be disqualified or powered off. This applies even while the band is performing.

13)Sponsors, Judges and Associates of Freedom Communications or Southwestern Arizona, Inc. are ineligible to enter.

14)Battle of the Bands is open to amateurs only. For the purpose of this contest, an amateur is somebody without a major-label recording contract AND who makes less than half their annual income by performing.

15)YumaSun.com and Yuma Palms are not responsible for any damage or theft of musical equipment during the Battle of the Bands. Watch your belongings closely. Further, any damage caused to our equipment by you and your band, will be charged to you and your band.
